  • A hospital near Sacramento is looking for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses for a travel contract. The right candidate will have 2 years of experience.

    • Job Requirements
    • 2 years of experience
    • Hold an active BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN, STABLE, NIH and CA License
      • Schedule Information
      • 12 hr shifts
      • Shift starts 645
      • OT and extra shifts are available
      • Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it
      • Schedules are out 4 weeks
      • Travelers can access their schedules from home
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Unit: Family Birthing Center - L&D and Mother Baby Ante/Post - all aspects of delivery
        • Ratios: 1:2 L&D, 1:1 delivery. 1:4 Mother/Baby couplets
        • EMR: Cerner
        • Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief
        • Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictates
        • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
        • Holidays Rotate in with core staff
        • Scrub Color: Provided
        • Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
        • Vents: No
        • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes
        • IV Team: No
        • RT 24/7: Yes
        • Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
        • Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen
        • Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor
        • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Term, preterm, some high risk. Also have antepartum population
          • Additional Details
          • Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years)
          • Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed
          • Modules are required to be done before start of assignment
          • Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital
